Exploring Kampala city with a self drive

Kampala is the capital city of Uganda and is home to thousands of Ugandan businesses and the major international and regional companies and the organizations. It includes the headquarters of the east African Development bank and Makerere University; one of East and central Africa’s premier institutes of higher education. The city also houses the Namugongo Martyr’s shrine. This is memorial place where 22  young Catholic martyrs were burnt to ashes after rebelling against Kabaka Mwanga. This occurred after he ordered to stop worshiping the missionary‘s preached God/religion. Thus every 3rd June the Catholic Church and their counterparts the Anglicans flock this place in honor of their religious heroes. The Kabaka’s palace and the Idi Amin’s torture chambers are located on Mengo Hill. All these have greatly attracted many safari tourists to Uganda. Not forgetting is Lake Victoria. This is the second largest freshwater in the world and provides an opportunity to enjoy a short boat tour.
