Before you set off to your Gorilla
Tracking Safari, you ought to be in reasonable shape and have no communicable
diseases such as flu of cold. Trackers should have a minimum of 15 years of age
and at all times wash your hands properly before heading out to the endangered
Mountain Gorillas. Very suitable clothings should be worn since it is usually
very cool. Clothings like jackets is
highly recommended, with a light weight back to carry along with you packed lunch, including very
durable boots to offer support to your ankles.
A maximum of eight (8) people are allowed per tracking
team and this is so because more would actually disturb the peace of the
Mountain Group being visited by you. This is also because it limits the
exposure of these endangered species to illness which is transmitted by human
beings. During your passage through the forest you are required to keep low
voices and silence is better since you might miss-out on other wildlife and the
profusion of birds. This awesome activity begins where the safari- guides previously last saw
the Gorilla group the previous day and
track them up to their latest location given that they are always on the
move.
In encounter with these Endangered Mountain Gorillas, a
distance of 5 meters is required which is approximately 15 feet from them. You
should keep together as a team when in the presence and all voices must be kept
low and if possible totally keep quite. You should not eat food or take drinks
while in the presence of the endangered mountain Gorillas. In case you posses a
flash photography, you are not allowed to flash these gorillas and also avoid
several movements as you take pictures, keep it composed. You should not
allowed to touch or even attempt touching the Gorillas.
Since Mountain Gorillas are very closely related to
humans, they are very vulnerable to contract diseases which are transmitted by
humans. If you do not feel alright,
alert the authorities so that you do not join the tracking group. In
circumstances where you want to blow your nose, cough or sneeze, gently and
turn your head away from where the gorillas are to limit the risks of infecting
them. On the side of Uganda, Buhoma is Bwindi’s busiest tourism site on the
North of the forest and it is a trail gorge and a big range of accommodation
There are many other attractions do exist; including Munyaga River
Trail. This is found in the valley below Buhoma, an ideal distance walk to view
birds primates forest edge. There are also waterfalls which head through one of Uganda’s main tracks of rainforest, passing below tree
ferns and orchids to visit 3 sparkling waterfall. The Rushara Hill Trail offers
impressive views. The Muzabairo Loop Trail goes to the summit for awe-
inspiring views of Bwindi forest which is the western rift valley and the
Virunga volcanoes. The River Ivi Trail takes an old road through an emerging close to Nkuringo along the
southern edge. The Buhoma community cultural performance and walking experience
which is a local society operates a village walk and takes one-three hours. On top of the cultural performance there are
traditional healers who are found in a typical homestead. Usually these local
dance groups perform traditional dances and music in the evening time which is
