The national
park of Kibale in Uganda is renowned
for primates. It is the primate’s
forest in Uganda and all over Africa. This is the forest has the
highest number of primates species in Uganda, and one of the highest
primate densities and diversities in the world. 13 species of primates live
here, among which include; hundreds of man’s closest relatives the Chimpanzees,
Red colobus monkeys, Black-and white colobus monkeys, Red-tailled monkeys,
L’hoest’s monkeys, Mangabeys, Pottos, Olive baboons, and many more. The park is
very ideal for birders and it boosts over 375 species bird species. A
number of these species restricted to the place in the country! A variety of
other creatures including butterflies, Buffaloes, and Elephants, have the
forest for a home. The best itinerary is a 3 days chimpanzee safari. The
itinerary will be
Day 1: Commence Chimpanzee Tracking Safari in
Uganda
Today you will
receive your desired car at your pickup
point and drive to Kibale National park for your Chimpanzee tracking experience
in western Uganda.. The Journey will take you about 5-6 hour drive. During the journey, you will
enjoy a perfect scenic view of Uganda, see local Uganda people in their local
life as you go past different vegetation, farms and Tea plantations. You will
have Lunch enroute and reach Kibale late afternoon. Overnight at your selected
accommodation facility
Day 2: Chimp tracking and the Bigodi wetlands
The second
day is that you will drive to the headquarters for briefing just
after you have had breakfast for a little briefing about the chimpanzee
trekking adventure . During this activity, you may see birds like western green
tinker bird, olive long tailed cuckoo, the African grey parrot, red chested
fluff tail, red winged francolin, green breasted Pitta, white napped pigeon,
African Piita, grey winged robin, joyful green bull, grey throated fly catcher,
Abyssinian ground thrush, white bellied crested fly catcher, black capped
Apalises and many more. You will also spot primates like the blue monkey,
red tailed monkey, white checked Mangabey, olive baboon, chimpanzees and black,
white and red colobus. Other mammals like blue duiker, genet, bush pig, bush
buck and the African civet can also be seen. Spotted in this park though rare
are the water bucks, buffalos, warthogs, hippos and the giant forest hog are
also present plus forest elephants. You will drive to the lodge for lunch and
later to the Bigodi wetlands for birding. It hosts about 138 bird species among
which are the great blue Turaco. After here, you will drive back to the lodge
for dinner and sleep over.
Day 3: Back to Kampala/Entebbe
Have breakfast
then drive back to Kampala or Entebbe
International Airport in good time for the flight back home or to the drop-off
point
