Bwindi
Impenetrable Forest National Park is located in South Western Uganda. It is
best known for Mountain Gorilla trekking experience though there are other
activities you can participate in. It is the best park in Uganda where you can
go for gorilla trekking. Most tourists have preferred to trek the mountain
gorillas in this park. This park has got both the habituated gorilla families
which offer gorilla habituation experience and other family groups which offer
the normal gorilla trekking experience within the park.
Bwindi
Impenetrable Forest consists of 331 square kilometers with a thick rain forest
which is found in the Bakiga Land. The native people of this forest are the
Bakiga people who speak lukiga language and the Batwa people who still occupy
some part in the forest. Gorilla trekking in this forest however is very well
worth the efforts considered with very beautiful nature and possibilities of
seeing the mountain gorillas being at 98 percent when you are in the
wilderness. This activity will offer you
a very unique opportunity to meet the endangered mountain gorillas in their
natural habitat in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This activity is very
adventurous as you will experience a wonderful trek through the forest and
finally spend a magical hour with these endangered apes.
When
you are in Bwindi Impenetrable National park, you can opt to go for a guided
forest walk by a professional guide. You will be very well led by a
professional s guide through the forest. You will be walking with a stick which
will be offered to you at the lodge or by the guide during the time of
briefing. During this walk, you will see a number of bird species and
butterflies. After trekking, you will visit the Batwa people. Here, you will
come to know about their traditional life. Remember these people stay in Bwindi
forest and they purely earn their living from what the forest offers them. You
will also come to learn about the culture of the Batwa people and their life
style.
During
the morning hours, Bwindi is
cold. The same coldness is also experienced at night,
meaning that Bwindi is cold during morning hours and cold at night. The annual
temperatures range from 7°C to 20°C. This therefore calls for warm clothings to
be put on since the forest reserves up to 2390 mm of rain every year. Usually,
this is centered during the two seasons the park experiences. These are the wet
seasons of March to May where short rains are experienced and during the months
of September to November where the rains are very heavy.
In Bwindi Impenetrable national
park, you will participate in Gorilla trekking activity. This is the most
paramount activity within this park. You will also participate in Nature walks
within the Forest. This will offer you a great experience as you will see a
number of bird species and butterflies within the forest. The birding
experience will make you participate in photography which is one the tourism
activities tourists prefer doing during their safaris.
To
readily access this park, you will be driven a distance of 9 hours from Uganda’s
capital city Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park where you will
participate in this lifetime activity. You can also take an alternative shuttle
from Entebbe where Uganda’s International Airport is found. This will take you
about one and half hours to arrive at Bwindi Impenetrable forest.
After
Bwindi, you can decide to visit the savannah park of Queen Elizabeth National
Park passing through the Ishasha area. At this point, you will see the tree
climbing lions. This park also offers you numerous activities including; game
drives which will give you a good opportunity to view a number of animals
including the tree lions, elephants and buffaloes. You will also participate in
boat cruise along the Kazinga channel. You will also sight a number of bird
species as you are driven by the captain
