The time spent when trekking the gorillas at Rushaga.
In your
group, you will be allowed to spend 4 hours with the gorilla family. This is
regardless of any day you are going to track the gorillas from. The
experiential Gorilla habituation experience in the Rushaga will take you a whole day. The four (4)
hours will be the hours are the hours which
being spent by the gorillas in the Bwindi Impenetrable National park.
How best can I enjoy this experience?
For you
to enjoy this experience at the maximum, you should book in advance. Booking in
advance will make secure a permit in advance and also since there are only 8
members per group, then you will stand high chances for not being left out to
enjoy the habituation experience. You
should put in mind that of the 8 members permitted to track the gorillas, on 4
members are allowed and there are 2 groups each day for tracking. The gorilla
habituation experience is not the same like full gorilla trekking. This is
because for a normal gorilla trekking, only 8 participants are allowed only one
hour with the gorilla family you are tracking.
In addition to that, you will give the travel agent to arrange you the
best accommodation basing on your savings and the type of accommodation you
want. This might be in form of budget, midrange or luxury accommodation
services.
How can
I book the gorilla habituation experience at Rushaga?
Well,
the gorilla habituation experience at Rushaga area can be booked online through
a tours and travel company or directly through Uganda Wildlife Authority. The
details are displayed on line thus; you need to book according to the family
you are going to track or trek. Seeing the mountain gorillas is one the life
time experience you will ever come across. However, for the gorilla habituation
experience will be beyond the gorilla viewing experience since you will be
viewing the gorillas which are habituated for viewing. You are required to book
at least 3 months in advance so that arrangements can be made for you early enough to avoid inconveniences which
may be caused as a result of late
bookings.
Places where the gorilla habituation experience is practiced.
Gorillas are habituated only in Uganda. They are
habituated in the national park of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. In the other countries where gorillas are
found that is in Rwanda and the democratic republic of Congo, there are no
habituated gorilla groups. The only place in Bwindi Impenetrable National park
where you can find these endangered species is at the Rushaga area. This is why
you are advised to book in advance. The gorilla habituation experience is not
like a normal gorilla trekking expedition. This one involves 8 people per day
with only 4 people on each viewing session while the normal gorilla viewing
expedition allows 8 people per group.
How can I access the habituated gorillas?
From
Uganda’s international airport- Entebbe, you will be driven to Uganda’s capital
city – Kampala. From here, you will spend a night in a booked hotel as per
your travel itinerary. Alternatively,
you can fly in from Uganda’s International Airport- Entebbe to Kisoro. There
domestic airlines within the country which do operate within the country. The
most notable one is Aero link Airlines.
These one do fly to Kisoro and then you can access the gorillas via
Kisoro. Alternatively, you can fly into Kigali, Rwanda from where you can take
a drive of approximately 3 hours, and then you reach Rushaga, a place where the
gorillas are found.

Uganda, you should involve a gorilla habituation experience. Usually, this
takes place in Bwindi Impenetrable Park in the Rushaga area. This is
strategically located in the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Of
