Existing Wildlife In Nyugwe National Park In The Republic Of Rwanda.

The Republic has got a few national parks. One of them is called Nyugwe rain forest. It is located in the South Western part of the Republic of Rwanda.  It is strategically located along the border of Burundi. This means that when you are at Nyugwe national park, you can cross to Burundi simply and easily. When you are looking at the southern part while at Nyugwe national park, you will see Lake Kivu. This lake is considered to be very famous in this country. It provides opportunity for scenic viewing and photography. You can relax and enjoy while you are at this lake. To the west of the park is the Democratic republic of Congo. This therefore means that you can easily enter the Democratic Republic of Congo when you move towards the west of the park.
The best of the park is that, it has been reserved as the most montane rain forest in central Africa. It has been attributed to the fact that the watershed between the basin of the River Congo to the west and the basin of the Nile River to the east. In the east side of Nyungwe forest, there are the branches of the Nile sources.  To become a park, Nyugwe was gazatted in 2004. It occupies a 970 kilometer piece of land. It is composed of bamboo forest, grassland, swamps and bogs as well. This existing vegetation within the park has greatly favored a number of fauna to settle. Because of this therefore, tourism has been possible to take place in the national park
When you in this national park and you wish to visit the nearest town, it will be Cyangugu town. This town is located 54 kilometers west of Nyugwe National park. Additionally, the park has attracted many tourists over the world. The main aim of them coming was to view chimpanzees. This means that the tourists who come to Nyugwe national park come primarily for chimpanzee trekking. Additionally, there are other wildlife species which are found in the forest. This thus makes it a good priority for conservation on the whole of African continent. It is also situated in a good region in which many large scale biogeographically zones meet. There are a variety of terrestrial biomes which provides a great span of micro habitats for many different species of plants and animals.

In comparison to other parks with the country, Nyugwe national parks contains 13 primates of which chimpanzees are a must. There are 275 bird species which have been recorded in the park. When it comes to fauna, there are 1068 plant species. Coming to animal species, there are 85 mammals which have been recorded in the park. At Nyugwe forest, a maximum altitude of 3000meter above sea level is reached. This altitude has favored the existence of Chimpanzees ,Angola colobus, Silver monkeys, vervet monkeys, L’ Hoest’s monkey, Golden Monkey, Hamlyn’s monkey, Red tailed Monkey, Dent’s Mona Monkey, Olive Baboon, and the grey checked Mangabey.
Conclusively therefore, apart from  what has been seen above, the park also offers great potential for tourism activities including; a guided canopy walk, guided walks, golden monkey tracking, chimpanzee trekking and habituation, nature walks, bird watching and many more. All these will be participated in very well when you are in Nyugwe national park. The species which are found here are species of the Albertine Rift Montane Forests Eco region in Africa. These activities will be offered to you with a specialized guide who will guide you peacefully and safely when you are in the forest.
